Home alone

Kynan took Maja and Linni with him on a minibreak skiing in Italy. So me and Milla have been home alone with the dogs and the cats. Been really strange... We went to the flower shop, bought loads of flowers, even though they will most likely die very soon as they usually do in my care...

Young girl looking at a African Daisy, Latin name Ostopermum

According to my sister, the flower expert, the orange one is called an African Daisy. She also knows that they are perennial, that is they live more than one year. If not in my care, that is, she had to add...

So we planted and watered... We also went to see Catrin, a visit long overdue. Milla and Olivia had great fun as usual!

Oh and then there was that amazing weather again... It's been an incredible winter, hardly any rain (contrary to last year, do you remember?!) and this weekend the temperatures soared. We decided to go down to Golden Sands. Of course the house was still cold, but luckily i did change from polo neck to t-shirt before i left the house. The beach was full of confused Maltese trapped in winter clothes but finding themselves being in summer temperatures. Must have been +25 at least. Kids stripped off to their undies and splashed around in the surf.

A funny thing being alone with Milla was that she was constantly aware of where I was. It was like she was thinking: 'ok, i've lost three, so i am not taking any risks here: i will make sure i don't lose sight of the one i have left'! Survival of the fittest i guess!

15 years fly... Vintage photo of woman with girl, taken on the weast coast of Sweden 1995

I am sitting with my god daughter Isabella, in a fishing hut on the west coast. Still working for Greenpeace. Am just in the process of going to Malta to join a ship tour to save the Mediterranean, and then to go bag packing in Asia. I can still hold Isabella in my arms. Today she towers over me...
The scratches are real, this is true vintage, and it makes me love the photo even more. It has been touched by time!

It's Valentine

Guess you've noticed, it's the big luuuuv day! Thought this photo from a recent photoshoot on the beach in Ghajn Tuffieha is a good reminder what love should be all about:

We should all be dancing with our men on the beach!

Slow sunday

Am sooo tired after whole day of maths... Maja and Linni are in the middle of their exam period and we've spent two days revising... We got Milla some friends over, not to bore her to death. Berta and Nicki made sure she had a fantastic afternoon!

Three year old children, two girls and a boy, having fun playing dress up

There is something extra-ordinary cute with three year old. Their conversations are just hilarious, the cute mix of innocent observations mixed with things they've heard grown ups around them saying. These three together are particularly cute cause they are so confident - both Nicki and Berta just come in to our house with a 'hey I am here now, what's up!' attitude which is great!

Stockholm, January 2010

View of rooftops in Stockholm, in January, full of snow

Two intensive days in Stockholm: have shot hundreds and hundreds of photos of Betsson staff. Am really pleased with the outcome, got some amazing shots. And how beautiful Stockholm has been! - 6 degrees, stunning sunshine, the air so clear. Had no time to walk around, but luckily the office had a fantastic terace, with this view. Managed to go swimming tonight at an old bath house, Centralbadet, build early 1900. Wow.

Sverige januari 2010

New year - clean car!

Me and Linni started off the new year with cleaning Kynan's car! Don't know why, but i still hold a childish fascination to carwashes. There is something with those brushes coming down on your car like monster toothbrushes - swooooosh they engulf you in a confusion of water and soap. Aha, i hear some of you saying; Anne's car must be constantly sparkling clean! This would obv only be those of you who have not seen me darting around Malta in my battered ol' Landrover, which constantly looks as if it has just done the Paris - Dakar rally. I just took Linni with me to create some nice childhood memories for her.

And as we all know, Linni is a re-creation of her dear auntie Charmaine. Just like sweet Charmie, she actually loves cleaning! She had a ball with the vacuum cleaner. I tell you, that car hasn't looked better since it rolled out of the audi factory in Germany...

He came! he came!

Oh yes, Santa knows how to find his way to Ghajn Tuffieha... And the dogs did not scare him away!

We had a great great Christmas, am really pleased!

These are Linni's own thoughts of Christmas day:

i loved cristmas i got so many presents . My fav was a dragon a girl baby doll dragon . I got a lot af sweets from
Santa Claws .

we ate alote and we did't stop ! after we ate Santa came ( someone was dreesed up as him . ) and gave out more presents but this time he gave presents that the family gave to him . we had a lovly time there .

Christmas in Mdina

Me and Amanda and our six (!) girls went up to Mdina on Tuesday's AMAZINGLY sunny afternoon. Strolling slowly through the silent city, we passed crib after crib. Milla happily shouted: Oh it's Jesus! I love him!

We stopped and had coffee at the
Carmelite Priory Cafe , a monastry which has recently been refurbished and opened to the public. It is hauntingly beautiful, with an amazing simplistic design that just blows you away. Ridiculously expensive cafe though, could be reason it was dead empty. Which was good as our kids were very noisy... They posed in front of ceramic vases which were probably a zillion years old and very expensive should they be crashed...

Girls posing at the Carmelite Priory Museum in Mdina

Maja and Linni brought their bikes, and could bike around as they wanted in Mdina. Mdina is the only city in Malta where no cars are allowed! So girls could get a taste of just roaming on their own. Linni obv had to take that to roam INSIDE the priory...

The weather is very changing at the moment. A few days ago it was horribly cold, around 8 at night. But yesterday it was fantastic again - Amanda came in t'shirt! But as soon as the sun sets, the warmth goes and you remember that it is winter again.

Christmas concert

In this year's Christmas concert at San Andrea School, Linni sang Silent Night in Swedish as a solo. The show was done twice, and on the second show, Maja sang with her. Oh what a proud Mama i was - tears in my eyes!

Christmas even this year!

Guess you've noticed by now... Christmas is around the corner... Not being very good at doing christmassy things, we did at least put up the christmas tree!!

Raili

My aunt Raili recently passed away. She was a beautiful, very creative person. On the shores of a Finnish lake, she created a magic summer castle, which we were lucky to visit a few years back. I remember my summers there as a small girl - back then they just had a cabin by the lake, two rooms of which one was the sauna. After the sauna, we ran straight out in the lake to wash. Magic.
I feel for Matti, Tiina and Piia. I wish Finland wasn't so far away.

I have a new toy...

My dear Amanda came back from the uk with a new toy for me: a Canon 50 mm 1.8 lens. And this afternoon, at 4 pm when all indoor photography is usally impossible, we took it for a spin, me and the girls. The results are amazing, am really thrilled!

The lens is so small and light, that the whole camera feels like it lost a couple of kilos. Focus is a bit of an issue, not sure if i have to adjust my viewthing, but when i opened the pics, most of them were out of focus. But the light! The LIGHT! A dream for someone as flash shy as i am!

Happy Halloween!!

Celebrating Halloween in Mgarr, Malta. My daughters dressed up as dead brides

Yes i know, i am late... as always... But this stretches the weekend out a bit! Incase it is not obvious, my girls were dressed as Dead Brides - favourite outfit as they can wear loads of makeup, glitz and high heels! Here Maja is feasting away on Linni, so guess Dead Brides slowly turning into vampires as well, not sure... Anyways, my kids had a great time - thank you Maria, Avanes, David and Anna for a great party!! While Kynan took the kids to Mellieha for their Halloween party, I went myself to Madliena Cottage to celebrate the engagement of Megan and Anli, and had an abs fab evening! Megan and Anli so beautiful, both inside and outside. Anli introduced me to oysters - can't believe i haven't eaten them before considering how much i love seafood. They were delicious. I drove home with a taste of champagne and oysters in my mouth, feeling very much full of love for not only Megan and Anli but the whole wide world!

Milla has started school!

This is Milla on her first day to school:

With the man of her life (daddy Kynan), she is proudly going for the first day of many many school days! And how proud she was! She put on her favourite dress, and her favourite neckless. And without stopping smiling, she waved bye to me when I dropped her off in class. I of course had tears in my eyes! Plus I was worried that the wailing from some 6 - 7 other kids who thought they were dropped off in a Gulag work camp would make Milla change her mind and start her off howling to. But oh no, she loved it, and has loved it since!

This is Milla in the official school uniform of Mgarr primary:

Milla in her school uniform outside her new school, Mgarr primary, in Malta.

I know, i know: it looks like she has an official Swedish sports outfit! I couldn't believe it when i saw it the first time, and i still can't get used to it! The other day, her yellow t-shirts were all dirty, so i gave her a swedisn football t-shirt to wear instead, with no 9 Lundberg on the back! Worked just as well!
And please note how well the pearls go with the school uniform!

Keep calm!

Got my Keep Calm poster today! Originally it was made in the UK during World War 2, as war propaganda, but apparantely it was never used. I think it is dead cool! It will hang in my kitchen, in a white IKEA frame. Got it from Petrified in Pink, a webshop that does beautiful graphic prints.

Girls love makeup!

Olivia came all the way from Zejtun to see us, with her mummy Catrin of course! The girls really hit it off and quickly started to swap makeup tips. Apparently bright red on your chin is the latest this season!
